Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk believes Jurgen Klopp has a tough job on his hands with respect to team selection in the coming weeks and months.

One of the biggest criticisms of Liverpool over the years has been the difference in level between their first-choice eleven and their backups. That has been a concern, but Klopp has clearly addressed that now.

Liverpool are still very reliant on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but their backup options now are absolutely incredible after the arrival of Luis Diaz.

Van Dijk is absolutely delighted with the Reds’ squad depth at the moment and he believes that it will not be easy for Klopp to pick his preferred front-three going forward.

Van Dijk: Klopp has difficult selection decisions to make now

Before speaking about Liverpool’s squad depth, Van Dijk raved about Diogo Jota.

He said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “I think he’s (Jota) a fantastic player. He’s just so lively. He runs through people at times and it’s very difficult to defend because he’s very opportunistic.

“He goes and takes risks and also his pressing and defending is incredible.

“The competition up front is interesting with Sadio (Mane) coming back now, Luis (Diaz) as well had a fantastic debut, Mo (Salah), obviously you don’t need to say too much about him, Taki (Minamino), Bobby (Firmino) – the manager has a tough job on his hands!”

Salah is Liverpool’s undisputed starter in attack, while Jota’s performances recently have made him undroppable as well.

Sadio Mane’s return will make him a favourite to start too, while Luis Diaz dazzling on his debut in the Premier League makes him stand out as well.

If those aren’t enough options, Klopp will still have Firmino, Minamino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Divock Origi, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones to choose from.

The Liverpool boss certainly is spoilt for choices at the moment and van Dijk’s absolutely right, it will not be easy for Klopp to pick his preferred front-three every week. However, this is definitely a good problem to have for any manager.
