Tottneham boss Jose Mourinho aims dig at Newcastle loanee Danny Rose
Jose Mourinho has aimed a dig at Newcastle United loanee Danny Rose in his pre-Aston Villa press conference, responding to Rose’s claims he was not given an opportunity – as per Football London, and Tottenham fans have reacted.
Rose, 29, joined Newcastle in the January window on loan until the end of the season – though the temporary move does not include a permanent clause. Rose joined after Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett were ruled out for the rest of the season.
The England defender told BBC Radio 5 Live, as per the Mail, that he felt he was not given a fair crack at the whip under Mourinho: “I do feel I wasn’t given as much of a chance as everybody else in the backline. I did want to play for him.”
Rose managed just three starts under Mourinho, against Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Olympiacos – as well as two substitute outings against Chelsea and West Ham – and the manager aimed a dig at Rose, claiming he was given a good opportunity.

“Even for Danny Rose it was a great opportunity to play three very important matches,” Mourinho said. “He played against Liverpool, he played against Olympiacos, probably the two more important matches we had to play.
“And against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. So even for Danny Rose a great opportunity to play three matches and show me what he’s capable to do. I gave him a great opportunity to show what he’s capable of doing.”
The former Leeds youth player has stated that he will see out his contract at Tottenham and leave for nothing at the end of the 2020-21 campaign. When he said this, though, he did state that he would not leave the club before then.
Since then, he obviously has joined a new team in Newcastle. The summer will be interesting one for Rose with interest likely to arrive from England and overseas – and Spurs fans have reacted to Mourinho’s dig at Rose’s comments.
I thought that as well when Danny said that nonsense, he was a disaster class in every game he played ?

I love Danny and his service to the club but he also loves a moan.

Danny Rose didn’t quite fit Mourinho: system but he was given ample chance in big games and in not one did he put in about a 6/10 performance. At the highest level that’s all the chance you’re going to get and rightly so. #thfc https://t.co/K4H6wS3RsC
