Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has messaged Mbwana Samatta on Twitter after the striker completed his January move to Aston Villa.
Samatta looks set to become the first player from Tanzania to play in the Premier League after becoming the Villans’ latest signing.
As reported by BBC Sport, he has joined Dean Smith’s men in a £10 million move, signing a four-and-a-half year deal.
Villa will be hoping that he can fill the void left by summer signing Wesley.
The Brazilian is out for the rest of the season due to an injury sustained on New Year’s Day, while Jonathan Kodjia has since left the club.
Samatta scored 43 goals in 101 league games with Genk before his move to the Premier League. Meanwhile, he also has 20 international goals under his belt.
And the other Premier League player who was also on the pitch for one of his most recent international goals has reached out to Villa’s new signing on social media to wish him well.
Wanyama’s Kenya side went 2-1 down behind due to Samatta’s goal during last year’s Africa Cup of Nations before coming back to win 3-2.
But the Spurs midfielder has now expressed his delight for Samatta after the forward completed his move to Villa Park.
Here is Wanyama’s message to the 27-year-old…
