This weekend saw Borussia Dortmund’s English star Jadon Sancho head to the top of the assist table in Europe. The former Manchester City star now has five assists, making him the best provider in the top five European leagues.

There are also several players on four assists so far this season, who have been in sensational form themselves.

One such player is Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The 21-year-old has four assists from eight Ligue 1 games this season from his deep central midfield position.

Such an impressive start to the season certainly justifies the interest Tottenham Hotspur had in the player this summer and continue to going forward.

Last week RMC Sport reported that Spurs made a bid for the player this summer. The report claimed that Manchester City were also keen on the player, with a £45 million bid said to have been tabled.

The report claims Spurs remain interested in the player and considering his form this season, with good reason. Whilst considered a destroyer in the centre of the park, his assist stats suggest that there is more to his game than just breaking up the play.

Tottenham are believed to be after a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele. Considering the form of Ndombele, they may have identified the perfect man.
