After playing just 12 first-team games during his first season at Tottenham, Ryan Sessegnon has been sent out on loan this year and it looks a great decision to try help him develop.
The 20-year-old struggled to force his way into the Spurs set-up during his debut campaign in North London, but he’ll now be hoping to play regularly for German top-flight club Hoffenheim after joining them on a season-long loan.
An interesting recent report from Football.London claims that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho views the youngster as someone who can be a long-term option at left-back, which is why he’s joined Hoffenheim to compete for a role as their wing-back.
Sessegnon is a versatile left-footer that has been used as a full-back, wing-back and winger already in his career, but for now it remains very open of where the ex-Fulham man will end up.
He was in action for England’s Under-21s side on Tuesday night and his performance perhaps proves that Mourinho will be making a mistake by converting him into a left-back.

Sessegnon helped the Young Lions beat Turkey 2-1 to qualify for the European Under-21s Championships and his performance caught the eye.
The Spurs talent was used as an attacking winger by international boss Aidy Boothroyd, which is a decision that paid off.
He made an excellently timed run behind the Turkey defence for the opening goal and saw his cross deflected in, plus he was pivotal in Eddie Nketiah’s winner.
Sessegnon showed brilliant intelligence to thread a pass beyond the opposition’s defence to assist the winning goal and there is no doubt he’s got the quality going forward, but he just needs regular minutes to progress.
He is a speedster that showed so much natural movement with his England display, which is why Mourinho should perhaps rethink his plans for him and try capitalise on his attacking talent.
