Tottenham’s predicted XI vs Brighton… Postecoglou makes one change, ‘fantastic’ £26m man gets huge chance

It’s another game and another big test for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur side as they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion tonight.

Spurs have fared very well during the recent festive period, recording three wins out of three after a disappointing loss against West Ham United.

And as they make their way up the table, Tottenham will now need to overcome ninth placed Brighton on the road, a difficult task for any team.

Moreover, that mission has just been made harder by the absence of Cristian Romero who will now miss a month or so due to injury.

And with that in mind, we are expecting Ange Postecoglou to make one change when Tottenham travel to Brighton tonight.

Perhaps there are two big decisions for the manager to make heading into the game.

Both Eric Dier and ‘fantastic’ Emerson Royal will be vying for the spot vacated by Romero, and perhaps even Ashely Phillips.

But given how well £26m Emerson Royal played against Everton last time out, his ball-playing ability will probably be preferred.

The other big decision comes further forward, does Postecoglou disrupt his midfield?

Yves Bissouma is now serving the second of a four-match ban, and is unlikely to feature for Spurs for a long while.

Therefore, Oliver Skipp is the obvious choice to keep his spot in midfield alongside Pape Matar Sarr.

However, both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso will also be eyeing up the role.

Hojbjerg is thought to be a player who could leave in January, with Jamie O’Hara even demanding for that to be the case.

But the Dane could still play an important role in the interim period.

Otherwise, there seems little clamour for Postecoglou to adjust his Tottenham attack against Brighton.

The club will be relishing every minute they can get out of Son Heung-min before he heads to the Asian Cup.

And perhaps Bryan Gil may play a role in the game ahead of him possibly taking more responsibility in January when Son is gone.

Tottenham clearly need additions to their squad next month, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

And even the most optimistic of fans will be thinking that Spurs will need to pour on the goals tonight to leave the Amex Stadium with a victory – such is the situation with their back line.

Although, the return of Destiny Udogie will be a very welcome one.
