Tottenham youngster Oliver Skipp has been ruled out for at least six weeks following surgery to repair a metatarsal fracture sustained with loan club Norwich City.

Spurs confirmed on their official website that the England U-21 international had gone under the knife to repair the fracture in his foot, an injury that can take up to six weeks to fully recover, meaning that Skipp could miss some stages of pre-season depending on how his recovery process goes.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in sensational form for Norwich this season, guiding the Canaries to promotion back to the Premier League and featuring in all 45 league games so far for Daniel Farke’s side, with Kenny McLean labelling the youngster as ‘outstanding’ vis Sky Sports News after becoming a key clog for the Norfolk side this year.

Skipp broke through at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino and has gone from strength to strength with each passing season, with the midfielder being compared to Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong by the Dutch U-21 squad in a friendly against England back in 2019 as per Cartilage Free Captain.

TBR View: Full Championship season will prepare Skipp for Premier League life

Skipp might not be able to complete the Championship season with Norwich, but playing 45 games for the champions of the division is still an incredible achievement for the young Tottenham man, and although he will likely start pre-season late due to this injury, the England youth international is more than prepared for life in the Premier League.

Skipp has already had a taste of playing in the big leagues following his promotion to the first-team by Pochettino, but now with a full season of Championship football under his belt and first-team places likely to be up for grabs ahead of the new season, the Tottenham academy graduate is well-positioned to make a name for himself at his boyhood club, and to make his mark on the starting XI when August rolls around.
