Report: Tottenham are nowhere near the asking-price for 'magnificent' forward; Levy must find more than £50m
Tottenham might be keen on signing Everton striker Richarlison this summer, but as yet, they are nowhere near convincing the Toffees to sell.
Spurs are thought to be keen on signing Richarlison, who is set to leave Everton another fine season. The Brazilian striker will be hoping to win a place at the World Cup with another good few months this year and is said to be keen on playing at the highest level possible.
However, while Spurs can offer him the Champions League football he might crave, The Telegraph has reported that Tottenham are nowhere near getting a deal done for Richarlison just yet. It’s claimed that Everton want more than £50m to even consider selling Richarlison. And with talk of an expensive Peter Kenyon-led takeover on the cards, Spurs will want to wrap up a deal for the forward quickly.
Spurs have already been making moves this summer. They’ve signed the likes of Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic already. More new players are expected, with Richarlison among the attacking options being considered.
Everton, meanwhile, have interest in both Richarlison and fellow striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Frank Lampard is keen to keep both, but knows the reality of the club’s financial picture could hinder him.
TBR’s View: Top Strikers Cost Big Money, Levy Must Open The Chequebook
Ultimately, if anyone knows about putting a price-tag on a striker, then it’s Daniel Levy. He priced Manchester City out of a move for Harry Kane last summer, so he won’t have any complaints with what Everton are doing.
But, if Levy really wants to back Conte, then he’s going to have to get ENIC to unleash the chequebook. Richarlison is a quality player, and he is rightly in the £50m+ bracket.
He does improve Tottenham, so if the club is serious, it might be the sort of signing they have to get over the line.
