Tottenham would rather appoint 'world-class' manager than Thomas Tuchel - journalist
Tottenham would rather bring back Mauricio Pochettino than hire Thomas Tuchel if they decide to replace Antonio Conte.
According to a report from Evening Standard, Tuchel is interested in taking the Spurs job if and when Conte vacates it.
Tuchel has been out of work since his sacking by Chelsea earlier this season, but of course won the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.
But journalist Ben Jacobs has tweeted that Pochettino is higher up the pecking order at Spurs if they do make a managerial change.
Tottenham would prefer to appoint Pochettino over Tuchel
Former Spurs striker Darren Bent has already said that he expects Spurs and Conte to reunite at some point. He told TalkSPORT:
“That one (Pochettino taking over the Tottenham job) feels almost inevitable. I think that one is going to happen, sooner rather than later.”
Spurs and Pochettino have unfinished business, and he is still held in great affection by some factions of the fanbase because of what he achieved at the club.
Pochettino, branded as a ‘world-class’ manager by Jamie O’Hara, clearly loves Tottenham, while at the moment, Conte is reluctant to commit his future to the club.
Daniel Levy has backed Conte, Jose Mourinho and even Nuno Espirito Santo financially more than he did Pochettino, when the Argentine was really on the verge of building something great.
Pochettino had to make do with the same players he had almost dragged to the summit of the mountain and things started to go stale.
They do say never go back, and it would be interesting to see how seriously Pochettino back to Spurs is mooted if he is still out of work when Conte leaves.
