Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn has been sent home from international duty over concerns about his fitness.
The 23-year-old will not have a chance to add to his nine caps for the Netherlands, who have games coming up against Spain, Bosnia Herzegovina and Poland.
Bergwijn might have been hoping for a good run out, but unfortunately for him that won’t be the case.

A statement from the Dutch FA read (ONS Oranje): “Steven Bergwijn has left the training camp of the Dutch national team. The Tottenham Hotspur attacker was examined by the medical staff of Oranje on Monday, upon arrival in Zeist.
“It turned out that he is not fit enough and that the Oranje matches must pass by.”
Bergwijn is not being replaced, with Frank de Boer happy to press ahead with 24 players.
So far this season, the former PSV Eindhoven star has made 10 appearances for Spurs and featured mainly in the Europa League.
TBR’s View – A concern for Spurs?
There will be a number of Spurs fans pleased that £27 million signing Bergwijn (BBC Sport) will not feature for his country over the international break.

But the reason he won’t should come as a bit of a concern.
Whatever the reason is for him lacking fitness, hopefully he can get himself up to speed soon.
Jose Mourinho has many options available to him and Bergwijn can’t really afford to slip further down the pecking order.
