Report: Tottenham willing to take £13m loss on player Mourinho called ‘amazing’

Tottenham Hotspur could be willing to take a big £13m hit on Brazilian winger, Lucas Moura, amid interest from South America.

Outlet Bolavip makes the claim, reporting today how Spurs could be ready to offload Lucas for as little as £10m. That sort of figure would see Spurs take a big loss, given they paid around £23m for Lucas back in 2018.

Lucas has slipped down the pecking order a tad under Antonio Conte. He is considered a backup option to Dejan Kulusevski, who has been simply outstanding since he signed.

There is thought to be interest in Lucas from Brazilian giants, Flamengo. A move back to South America could appeal to the Tottenham ace as well, given his current status in the squad.

Lucas has had an enjoyable time of things at Spurs in the main. He scored one of the most memorable goals of recent times for Tottenham when he helped them overcome Ajax in the Champions League.

Labelled as an ‘amazing‘ player by former boss Jose Mourinho, there is little in the way of animosity towards Lucas.

With this, it appears to be more a case of Conte moving players on and doing his own thing, rather than holding any sort of vendetta.

TBR’s View: Lucas should leave Tottenham

And if he does, he can go with his head held high really. Lucas has done little wrong in a Tottenham shirt, and he’s been a hard-working player who as given his all.

Spurs fans would miss him, but they’d wish him well as well. Over the years, he’s contributed and as mentioned, no one will forget that goal in the Champions League.

A move back home to Brazil might suit Lucas. He’ll join other PL stars in moving back to South America and if he does, he’ll go down as a fondly remembered Tottenham player.
