Report: 'World-class' player is disappointed with his current club, Conte now waiting to bring him to Spurs

According to reports this morning, Tottenham are waiting in the wings to take Paulo Dybala from Juventus, with the forward set to leave Turin after becoming unhappy with his situation.

Corriere dello Sport make the claim, suggesting Conte is a big fan of the Argentinian star and that Spurs are waiting to take him on a free-transfer. It comes as talks over his new deal with Juventus appear to have hit a brick wall.

Dybala, 28, has managed nine goals in 20 games this season despite not being at his very best. Despite Conte’s admiration of the Juventus man, he has yet to play under the current Tottenham boss. But that could change, especially if Conte pushes Fabio Paratici to pursue a deal.

Linked with Liverpool as well, Dybala is earns around £220k-a-week with the Italian giants. But while those wages make him Spurs’ top earner, the fact he is on a free could negate that big outlay.

Dybala being linked with the Premier League is nothing new. He has consistently been mentioned over numerous transfer windows, with Manchester United linked a few years back. In 274 games for Juventus, Dybala has hit 109 goals, although he has just the two for Argentina.

TBR’s View: Dybala A Game Changer For Tottenham

If Spurs are to really progress under Antonio Conte then they need high level and world-class players. Dybala certainly fits into the bracket of top player.

While he can be inconsistent, on his day he is superb. After all, you don’t make that many appearances for Juventus without having a little bit about you. The notion of him being top level is a view shared by former Chelsea boss Mauro Sarri too. He deemed Dybala ‘world-class’ previously, and you can see why.

Certainly, if Tottenham pull this off, it’s one for the Spurs fans to be excited about.
