Tottenham are keen on signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer as Antonio Conte looks to build on his good start to life in London with a strong transfer window.

The Nigerian star has been in fine form for Napoli this term and has 17 goals to his name. The former Lille striker has started to look his best in recent times and justify the massive £67m the Italian club splashed out on him. And according to All Nigeria Soccer, which sites a report from TuttoNapoli, Tottenham are keeping tabs on Osimhen, who is also said to be attracting admiring glances from Newcastle United.

Of course, Napoli won’t be selling Osimhen on the cheap and will be looking for a big return on their investment if they do indeed decide to cash in. With Napoli paying more than £67m, you’d expect they’d demand that and possibly more to sell.

That would put Osimhen well into the bracket of club-record signing for Tottenham and Newcastle. At the moment, Spurs’ record buy is the £54m spent on Tanguy Ndombele.

Osimhen had been tracked by Arsenal in January too. However, the Gunners failed to get a deal over the line for any striker in the end.

There is no doubt that Tottenham’s next signings need to be similar to Bentancur and Kulusevski in that they improve both the first XI and squad depth considerably.

And if they landed Osimhen, it would definitely do that. After all, he was branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Walter Mazzarri.

The Nigerian has everything a top striker needs in Europe. Electric pace, power, and the ability to finish chances that come his way. His record with Napoli is good, and there is scope for him to improve further as well.
