Report: Tottenham now want Thomas Muller 2.0 as Diaz alternative, would cost £25m

Tottenham Hotspur might have seemingly missed out on signing both Adama Traore and Luis Diaz, but their quest to add fresh faces before Monday is showing no signs of slowing down.

So far, Tottenham have been frustrated in their attempts to bring in new players. Traore and Diaz are big misses, especially when it had appeared things were all but wrapped up until the middle of this week. It means Fabio Paratici must now move quickly to bring new additions in, or risk upsetting Antonio Conte, who was promised fresh faces.

However, according to The Sun, Tottenham’s hopes of new signings aren’t quite over yet. The Sun reports how Spurs have now shifted their focus to Genk midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt. It is believed the central midfielder would cost around £25m, should Tottenham push through a deal late in the day.

Thorstvedt, 22, is a regular for Norway and can play in any role in the middle of the park if needed. Compared in the past to German forward, Thomas Muller, the talented Norwegian has four goals in all competitions this season.

Spurs boss Conte has made no secret of his desire for new players. A number of current first-teamers, including Tanguy Ndombele, are expected to leave. However, a move to PSG for the ex-Lyon man has yet to be confirmed.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Looking Desperate

Oh dear. What a nightmare this is turning out to be for Spurs fans. What started as a month of renewed optimism under Conte, has descended into much of the same for Tottenham.

Fabio Paratici is the man accountable, of course. This is nothing to do with Conte. The manager’s feelings are clear, it’s simply down to Paratici and Daniel Levy to deliver the goods.

Thorstvedt is a good player in his own right. But is he what Tottenham fans expected at the beginning of January? Probably not. Paratici, then, has some serious work to do.
