Tottenham vs Arsenal: Bukayo Saka now expected to start after injury concerns

The Daily Express reports that Bukayo Saka is now expected to start for Arsenal’s huge clash against Tottenham Hotspur today.

Arsenal have been presented with another opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League after Manchester City fell to defeat at Old Trafford yesterday.

Mikel Arteta was handed an injury concern last weekend after Saka was taken off during their win over Oxford United.

The Spaniard hinted yesterday that the 21-year-old should be fine to feature against Spurs today after he trained on Friday.

Now, it seems that Saka will be ready to go straight back into the starting line-up in north London.

Saka expected to start

The Express reports that Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are set to start in today’s north London derby.

The outlet notes that the duo have started every single Premier League match this season, with the run set to continue later on today.

Eddie Nketiah is expected to line-up alongside the pair after his brilliant form in Gabriel Jesus’ absence.

It will be a massive boost for Arteta if Saka is fit enough to start in today’s derby clash. The youngster has been ‘incredible’ this season, scoring six times and providing the same number of assists in the league so far.

Of course, Arteta is currently lacking attacking options after Jesus’ injury and it would have been a huge blow if Saka was ruled out.

The Gunners have the opportunity to lay down a significant marker in the race for the Premier League title today. They will move eight points clear of City with a win over their bitter rivals.

Recent history certainly hasn’t favoured the away side in north London derbies but Arsenal will be hoping they can carry their brilliant form into the fixture.

As for Spurs, Conte confirmed yesterday that Dejan Kulusevski will be ready to play, but there are doubts over Rodrigo Bentancur’s fitness.
