In his column on Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has predicted the result of the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United on Sunday.

The Antonio Conte era has begun but Spurs are yet to win a game in the Premier League under the Italian. The game this weekend is a massive opportunity for Tottenham to kickstart their season, but it won’t be easy.

Leeds United aren’t in great form themselves. They’ve won just one of their last four league games, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side are more than capable of hurting Spurs if the hosts give them time and space.

However, Merson believes that Tottenham will win the game comfortably. He has predicted a 2-0 victory for Conte and has backed Harry Kane to score both goals.

Merson: Harry Kane will score twice against Leeds

The Englishman wrote: “I’d be really shocked if Harry Kane doesn’t score in this game. The international break was really good for him – it doesn’t get any better than seven goals from two games.

“It could turn out to be the kick-start he needs to get his scoring boots on in the Premier League and the way Leeds United play could also work in his favour.

“I’m going for a 2-0 Tottenham win in Antonio Conte’s first home game in charge of the club, with Kane continuing his fine form by scoring both goals.”

When did Kane last score a PL brace?

Kane’s form this season has been a hot topic of discussion. The Englishman’s transfer saga in the summer seems to have had an impact on his performances, while Spurs’ torrid time under Nuno Santo didn’t help either.

The 28-year-old has scored just once in the Premier League in 10 appearances. His end to last season wasn’t really great either, as he scored just twice in Spurs’ final five games.

However, he did score a brace against Everton just before that, in a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park in April. Merson has backed Kane to do the same in the Premier League this weekend, even though he hasn’t been able to do that in seven months.

It certainly won’t be easy, but after an incredible international break, don’t be surprised to see Kane prove Merson right.
