Graham Roberts picks out three Tottenham players for praise, following Brentford win

Tottenham saw off Brentford this evening as Antonio Conte continued his fine start to Premier League life, as an own goal and a fine effort from Heung-Min Son ensured three points.

It was a big night for Spurs and their supporters. The miserable loss against Mura in Europe had left a stain on the impressive start under Conte. However, they turned up tonight and finally broke down a dogged Brentford side.

For Conte, he once again put his trust in a system with wing-backs. Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon being the ones tasked with providing the width for Tottenham.

And taking to Twitter, former Tottenham man Graham Roberts included Reguilon in his three players who he felt were superb for Conte’s men against the Bees.

Skipp, in particular, came in for praise from more than one place following the game. A number of pundits and fans were impressed with the young midfielder.

Dier, meanwhile, is enjoying a mini-resurgence while Reguilon continues to provide enthusiasm and energy to the Spurs XI.

TBR’s View: Things clicking slowly for Tottenham under Conte

Two wins from three in the Premier League is nothing to be ashamed about and this tonight felt like a big win. Yes, on paper, Brentford are a side who Tottenham should see off.

However, getting the job done is a different matter and something Spurs haven’t done over the last 12 months with any consistency. Conte, it seems, is slowly getting a tune from this squad which definitely has potential.

In terms of Roberts’ tweet, he is right to pick out the trio for praise. Skipp, as mentioned, was exceptional and he is quickly becoming one of the key cogs for Tottenham and Conte.

If Spurs can keep this little burst going, then there is every chance they can fight for the European spots come season’s end.
