Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom this summer. As reported by Le10 Sport, the North London side now lead the race for his signature, with a £35.3 million price-tag being mentioned.
Spurs, however, are always looking to get players at the best possible price. So could they knock a few million off the deal, by offering Bordeaux a ready-made replacement for the Brazilian?
The player in question is Georges-Kevin Nkoudou. Spurs paid Marseille a fee of £10.9 million for the 23-year-old, but he has struggled to find success in North London. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley, where he again could not find regular first-team football.
He has played just 23 times in his two years at Spurs, scoring one goal against APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League last December.
It appears he has no future at Tottenham, but Bordeaux are believed to be fans of the 23-year-old. The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 10:26 pm, May 20, 2018).reported that both Bordeaux and Lille are keen on the player this summer as his English adventure appears to be coming to an abrupt end.
For Tottenham, it could be the perfect scenario.
By offering Nkoudou in exchange they remove doubt from the French side over replacing their Brazilian wing-wizard. The move would also cut the transfer fee down considerably, perhaps even below the £30 million mark.
Nkoudou should be involved in any deal Tottenham manage to get over the line for Malcom this summer.
