Troy Parrott was stretchered off for Tottenham Hotspur’s reserve side on Monday night as Spurs second string earned a 3-1 win over Derby County – but he has allayed fears of a serious problem by posting on Twitter.
The 17-year-old has been on fire for Spurs this season, scoring a whopping 13 goals in eight outings for the Under-18 side. His form has seen him promoted to the club’s Under-23 side.
He has scored two goals in eight outings, both coming in a 2-1 win over Swansea last time out. Looking to continue that form, Parrott started against Derby. But in the second half he was taken off on a stretcher.
It looked like a serious injury, but Ireland youth international Parrott took to Twitter to reassure fans that the injury is not a big one – stating that x-rays have shown that nothing is broken.
TBR’s view
Though not a serious injury, the timing of the injury will be a big blow to Parrott. His excellent form had seen some fans urge Mauricio Pochettino to give him a chance in the senior side, with Harry Kane out injured.
He is still new to the Under-23 team and the chance to show off in an upcoming Under-17 tournament for Ireland would have furthered his development even more. He looks set to miss that.
Parrott must focus on his recovery and remember that time is more than on his side.
