Tottenham transfer: MK Dons reportedly want Spurs prospect on loan
League One outfit MK Dons are trying to sign Tottenham prospect Troy Parrott on loan, according to The Telegraph.
The youngster is available for loan and plenty of Football League clubs will likely be keen.
What’s the story?
Parrott is a highly-rated graduate of Tottenham’s academy. He isn’t quite at Premier League level just yet though and a loan spell is necessary.
Last season he started it on loan at Millwall and finished it with Ipswich, who are also in League One.
Now, Nuno Espirito Santo also feels that the teenager’s development will be best served out on loan.
Last night, Parrott was introduced as a substitute against MK Dons as Tottenham ran out 3-1 winners at Stadium MK.
Can Parrott produce in League One?
It’s fair to say that he should do. The 19-year-old scored twice in 18 outings for the Tractor Boys during 2020/21.
He started 13 games and if he is to kick on and score more goals, he needs to play for a team that will put that faith in him.
MK Dons are in the market for a striker and Parrott would add a physical presence to their attack.
Championship football with Millwall looked like a bit too much too soon and this move looks like a smart one.
What has been said about Parrott?
Paul Lambert was his boss at Ipswich and he was desperately impressed during a win for his team over Blackpool last season.
He told the Irish Independent: “Troy Parrott can be anything he wants to be. For somebody who has just turned 19, if he keeps progressing he’s going to be some player. The pass for Freddie Sears was brilliant.”
Will he earn a Tottenham chance?
That, right now, is the million-dollar question. Spurs supporters certainly hope so and plenty feel he will be cut out for the challenge of securing a first-team place.
He does need a really good loan spell sooner rather than later, although at 19 times is very much on his side.
Parrott is a Republic of Ireland international and he shows a dogged work rate when called upon in any game.
The teenager has lots of strong qualities and perhaps a move to MK Dons is perfect for him at this stage of his young career.
