Tottenham transfer: Jorge Mendes offers 24-year-old ace to Spurs

Super agent Jorge Mendes is keen to take his client Goncalo Guedes to Tottenham ahead of next season. The Valencia man is being linked with Spurs by Deporte Valenciano.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a pretty decent 2020/21 campaign. He scored seven goals and registered seven assists from 34 appearances in all competitions.

Guedes has played 23 times for Portugal, scoring six goals and has typically operated as a left-winger during his time at Valencia.

He has also shown the versatility to play elsewhere. The youngster has featured in attack and in the space just behind a striker.

Guedes also has Benfica and PSG on his CV but in recent years, he’s been settled with the La Liga outfit.

The Portuguese performer has just two years left on his current deal and Valencia are keen to offload him during the current campaign.

They have tasked Mendes with fixing the player up and the agent is determined to get him to Tottenham.

Valencia are in a desperate financial predicament and as a result, need to cash in on some players this summer.

New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo knows Mendes well. He worked alongside him on several deals during his time at Wolves.

He will be keen to add more attacking quality to his ranks this summer, and Guedes could be a decent option.

For the national team, the trickster has played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. He has previously told Marca of his fondness of his compatriot, saying: “He’s the best in the world and he’s always at the top. He is key for the whole squad.”

Guedes to Tottenham: Player fits the club’s profile

With Valencia keen to sell players the transfer fee could be affordable for Tottenham. The player’s £100,000-a-week wage would also sit nicely with the club.

At 24 he’s nowhere near his prime years and that makes him an attractive signing. He has plenty of time to improve and he’s already shown bags of quality in Spain.

His versatility could also prove key and with two decent feet, Espirito Santo could pull off a coup with the signing of Guedes.
