Tottenham are reportedly in the hunt to sign Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake and he could be a brilliant addition to the squad.
According to the Daily Star, Spurs are ready to compete with Manchester United for the 23-year-old enforcer and he is valued at around £40million due to his impressive displays in the Premier League with Bournemouth.
The report details that manager Mauricio Pochettino has been tracking the Holland international in recent weeks.
Pochettino needs to prepare for life without key centre-backs Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, with the latter in particular refusing to sign a new deal.
Spurs should have a new brilliant £82million partnership in mind for the heart of defence, as Ake could slot in alongside current centre-back Davinson Sanchez in years to come.
Sanchez, who cost £42million (Telegraph) last summer from Ajax, is a 22-year-old centre-back that is developing into a serious talent.
An Ake-Sanchez combination would have a brilliant blend of speed and technical ability, something that Pochettino looks out for.
Both are still young defenders that are improving every week, but have the potential to perform at the highest level and would be a fascinating pairing to put together.
Spurs still have the experienced Belgian duo of Vertonghen and Alderweireld for the meantime, but preparing for a new version of them would be a genius move.
