Tottenham are reportedly in the pursuit for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who would be a brilliant addition for the club.

According to Calciomercato, Spurs and Arsenal have been alerted in the race for the 22-year-old by the fact that his agent has travelled to London.

It is understood that he would be interested in playing for either North London club, while Inter Milan are all keen on him.

The report details he’s got a £31million release clause currently in his deal with Italian outfit Roma, but they ant to hand him a new deal and remove it.

Pellegrini could be a cracking addition for Spurs if they win the race for him and he’s exactly the type of player they need to bring in ahead of next season.

He is a central midfielder that has just enjoyed a strong individual campaign for Roma, where he impressed in the Serie A and Champions League.

The Italy international made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists in return.

Pellegrini is a box-to-box midfielder that is useful offensively and defensively, while he’s also technically sound on the ball too.

He’s a developing talent that would need to get to grips with the pace of the Premier League, but he’s got so much potential and he would fill a void in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Spurs are crying out for more options in the centre of the park and Pellegrini would add an excellent balance if he slotted into the team.
