Tottenham are reportedly stepping up their pursuit in Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly to lead the chase for his signature.

According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs are tracking the 20-year-old Championship ace and could face competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to land him.

It is understood their Premier League rivals could make a move in the January transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side may have their work cut out to bring in Bristol City’s highly-rated ace, but he could be worth the risk and the next English youngster to benefit from the tutelage of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kelly is a versatile defender that has been excelling at left-back this campaign, but can be used in the heart of the backline too and many believe he will end up as a centre-back.

He is involved with the England’s Under-21s side and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is a great example in recent years of a young defender making a seamless transition from the Championship to the Premier League.

Kelly is a defender comfortable with the ball at his feet and shows real maturity in the Championship for someone of his age.

Pochettino could do with some extra defensive reinforcements moving forward and snapping up an English talent for a role in the squad could be perfect.
