Tottenham Hotspur have perhaps received further encouragement to try and target Josko Gvardiol with the defender being named at 22 on ESPN’s list of the world’s best players aged 21 or younger, with the Croatian six places higher than William Saliba.
RB Leipzig could well face a fight to keep Gvardiol this summer. He has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects on the continent.

The 20-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Leipzig side this term. Meanwhile, he is also into double figures for caps for his country.
His ability to play as a centre-back or left-back appears to have caught the eye of Antonio Conte. Reports recently claimed that the youngster is his top defensive target ahead of the summer.

Tottenham could need to break their transfer record to sign him. Reports have suggested that he could command a fee of up to £80 million.
So it should probably come as no surprise that he is amongst the best prospects in Europe. ESPN name him at 22 on their list. Interestingly, Saliba is six places further back.
Of course, many Arsenal fans view Saliba as a real star of the future.
Tottenham may never get a better chance to land Josko Gvardiol
This summer has the potential to be a massive one for Tottenham. With Conte at the helm, it really does appear that they have the potential to elevate themselves back into contention for major honours – and perhaps clear that final hurdle that just proved too big under Mauricio Pochettino.
Should they keep Conte and Harry Kane, and be able to offer Champions League football next year, joining Tottenham will be an attractive proposition for many. And Gvardiol – who has been described as an ‘elite‘ player – could be one who finds the opportunity tempting.
