Tottenham have reportedly made an approach to try snap up midfielder Franck Kessie in the summer.

The 22-year-old is on a two-year loan spell from Atalanta at AC Milan, with the latter having the option to buy for £17.5million (Tuttomercatoweb).

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Spurs have contacted the player’s agent to try discuss a switch to the Premier League, but Milan would want £35million to offload him.

Mauricio Pochettino should insist on a swoop for the Ivory Coast international, who could be his next young star.

The North London club are crying out for another midfield enforcer for next season and the current Milan ace would slot in nicely.

Kessie has been a top performer in Serie A for Milan, where he’s earned a reputation as an all-action central midfielder.

The Ivory Coast international has brilliant physical strength and is a presence in the centre of the park, while he looks a tailor-made fit for English football.

He already delivers matured performances with blocks, interceptions and tackles, but Pochettino has a knack of helping young players improve and Kessie looks a real star for the future.

There is a sizeable void that needs filling for Spurs in midfield and Kessie has the potential to become a long-term solution if the club ramp up interest in him.
