Tottenham are reportedly close to securing a deal for Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Dani Olmo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Spurs are near to wrapping up a £22.5million move for the attacking midfielder from the Croatian top-flight club.
It is understood that talks have advanced between the two teams about the Spaniard and he may become the latest signing made by Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, with Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele already joining this summer.
Olmo has just helped Spain win the Under-21s European Championships this summer and is someone with vast potential, so a move to the Premier League is extremely exciting.
The versatile attacker scored three goals in just four games during the tournament, while he enjoyed a strong club campaign last year too.
He made 44 appearances across all competitions last season for Dinamo Zagreb, scoring 12 goals and supplying nine assists in return.
Olmo’s a skilful attacker that has good pace and an eye for goal, and his best position is in the number 10 role behind the striker.
His potential arrival in North London is good news for current Spurs star Dele Alli, as he will have some stiff competition for the new season.
Alli is one of the superstars in the Spurs team that is very talented, but his return of seven goals and eight assists last season was a little short of what he’s capable of or has achieved in the past.
The England international could do with a direct competitor in the squad and Spanish prodigy Olmo would be the ideal understudy to him.
Alli, 23, has to keep progressing in Pochettino’s squad and having a teammate rival will help.
The English creator needs to be given the licence to attack freely in the team, as he’s proven in recent times he’s a major goal threat and next season could be a huge season for him if he knuckles down.
