Ben Davies currently occupies a Tottenham role where he competes alongside Danny Rose for the left-back slot and the duo have mainly shared the positions in the last couple of years.
Davies has proven himself to be a fairly reliable player under Mauricio Pochettino that can defend well and has a great attitude.
But the 26-year-old could be in big trouble if a top-class full-back arrives in his position.
Rose is a Spurs player that could be made available in January (Times) and surely that would leave the North London club needing a repalcment.
According to the Daily Star, Spurs are one of three teams that are looking at Leicester’s City speed machine Ben Chilwell.
The report explains that they are joined by Manchester United and Chelsea in showing an interest in the left-back.
It is understood that Leicester want him to sign a fresh £100,000-a-week deal at the King Power Stadium, which would mean his existing £50million valuation could rise even higher.
Chilwell is an extremely talented left-back that has grown into a brilliant player with Leicester and aged 22 has his best years ahead of him.
The England international appears to have overtaken Rose in the pecking order for Gareth Southgate’s team and looks the more complete player out of the pair.
He would be a real statement addition if Pochettino’s team could manage to sign him, but it would surely leave Davies in risk of being frozen out and spending a lot more times on the sidelines.
The Welshman hasn’t been far behind Rose in the race for a spot in the defence, but rising star Chilwell has got the potential to blow him out of the water and become a nailed on starter.
