Tottenham reportedly hold an interest in West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the Sun, Spurs are tracking the 25-year-old alongside European pair Borussia Dortmund and Fiorentina.
It is understood that Mauricio Pochettino’s side could be left with just Ben Davies as their left-back next season, with the future of Danny Rose uncertain.
Spurs may need to find another solution at left-back for next year, but they should bin their interest in West Ham’s speed machine.
Masuaku joined the Hammers for £6million (Sky Sports) back in 2016 and he will be entering the final year of his contract in the summer.
The Congo international has excellent pace and can be a threat at times when he bursts forward, with many seeing him as a winger more than a defender.
But he’s not shown the kind of form in recent years to suggest he is ready for a top-six club and has been battling with Aaron Cresswell for the full-back position.
Masuaku has in stages shown great form in a West Ham shirt, but ultimately he’s suspect defensively and still has to improve with his back to goal.
With Spurs preparing for a Champions League final, there should be no reason why they won’t able to attract some high-profile players if they are willing to invest in the summer.
Masuaku is certainly not at the level of Rose and it’s hard to imagine him making the desired step up next season at Spurs, which is why it would be a backwards decision if he joined.
