Marcus Edwards opened his 2020-21 account for Portuguese side Vitoria on Monday night as he lashed home an effort to score the goal of the game in a clash against Boavista – and Tottenham supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Edwards, 21, joined Vitoria last summer from Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino decided to allow the England Under-20 international’s contract to expire. He starred in his first season, having a hand in 18 goals during his 36 appearances.
He scored nine and created nine more, but he failed to be involved in a goal during Vitoria’s first three games this season. However, the London-born playmaker then netted his first of the season in a 1-0 win over Boavista.
Trapping a lofted cross with his left foot to perfection, Edwards dropped a shoulder and smashed home a right-footed effort in the first half. The scoreline remained the same until the end of the game, and Edwards posted on Instagram.

The London-born star – who has the same agent as Danny Rose and Dele Alli (TransferMarkt) – was linked with a return to Spurs in the summer. Guimaraesdigital claimed Spurs and Man United wanted Edwards, who is rated at about £22.5million.
Tottenham supporters reacted to his latest goal on Twitter, with many questioning Pochettino’s decision to let him leave Spurs. Jadon Sancho and Ryan Sessegnon also reacted on his Instagram with emojis, describing Edwards as “cold” and a “magician”.
