Elseid Hysaj will reportedly seek an exit from Napoli next month, which may place Tottenham Hotspur on red alert.
According to Il Mattino, the 50-cap Albania international ‘will ask to go away’ in January, with the Champions League club apparently targeting Timothy Castagne of Atlanta.
Hysaj has featured just five times for Napoli so far this season having struggled with injury.
The 25-year-old, whose current contract runs until the summer of 2021, is firmly behind new signing Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the pecking order and there is also competition from Kevin Malcuit.
Spurs were reportedly interested in the player in the summer when Juan Foyth sustained an ankle injury (Sky Sports).
With Hysaj wanting out, could Spurs now reignite their interest?
TBR’s view – Hysaj decent competition for Aurier
If Hysaj really does want to leave the Stadio San Paolo then Spurs should give the idea some consideration.
Hysaj arguably isn’t at the same level he was at a couple of year ago, but he could still be worth the risk.
He would seemingly be a fairly cheap pickup given his status at Napoli right now, and Spurs would certainly then have options to really compete for the right-back position.
Serge Aurier needs challenging, and Hysaj could be the man to throw down the gauntlet if the manager doesn’t fancy Kyle Walker-Peters.
