Harry Kane has revealed a message given to him from Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho about where he plays on the pitch.

Apart from scoring goals at a phenomenal rate, Kane has been under the spotlight for the creativity he’s added to his game recently and the way the striker has dropped into deeper pockets.

The England captain has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances so far this season for Spurs, plus set up a remarkable 10 assists.

Kane, 27, has continued to be the talisman for the North London club with his vital goals and his partnership with teammate Heung-Min Son has reached a new level.

The centre-forward has detailed the advice given to him from Mourinho:

“We’ve had a great relationship since he walked through the door to be honest,” Kane told Spurs TV.

“Tactically, he wasn’t one to definitely tell me to drop deep but he was saying if I wanted to drop deep then making sure people are running in behind.”

TBR’s View:

It seemed a fairly unpopular appointment at the time, but just shy of a year into his role as Spurs manager Mourinho is beginning to get some credit for the impact he’s had on certain individuals.

Kane was clearly already a world-class talent from the way he developed under former coach Mauricio Pochettino, but it looks like the 27-year-old is approaching his peak.

His vision, creativity and passing range is being displayed now regularly, which is why it’s difficult to find a more all-round forward right now across Europe.
