Leeds United are one of a number of sides reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and although he would be a good signing at Leeds, he won’t be first choice.

TeamTalk have claimed that the 21-year-old powerhouse defender is interesting Leeds, Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Luton Town, Middlesbrough, Barnsley, Bristol City and Derby County.

Spurs are only willing to let him leave on loan this summer, rather than selling him permanently with the United States international still having two years remaining on his contract in north London.

Prior to Sunday, bringing in Carter-Vickers would have seen him become first choice alongside captain Liam Cooper. Indeed, he has much more experience than his direct rival Ben White – who is on loan at Leeds from Brighton.

Carter-Vickers has 64 career appearances in England’s second tier, following loans with Sheffield United and Swansea City. That would have made him first choice above the impressive White.

But following Sunday’s performance from White alongside Cooper against Bristol City, Carter-Vickers is likely to be back-up at Elland Road if the Whites do win the race for the defender this summer.

White’s display is special. He was brought to Yorkshire for his ability on the ball and that showed, executing an array of passes both long and short, dribbling past players but also showing defensive nous to make blocks and tackles.

There were doubts over whether White could replace Pontus Jansson at centre-back, but Sunday’s performance will have gone a long way to cementing his place in the starting eleven – meaning Carter-Vickers would be back up.
