Tottenham Hotspur have just been dealt a big injury blow with a key player picking up an issue whilst away on international duty.

Spurs face a busy end to October as they are due to play four games in the space of 11 days with decisive league and cup fixtures.

Ange Postecoglou was just handed a big boost ahead of the busy schedule with Heung-min Son, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert all set to return to training this week.

However, a player who was set to feature prominently over the next few matches has just been forced to return to Hotspur Way after suffering an injury blow.

Lucas Bergvall suffers injury blow

Lucas Bergvall has been forced to withdraw from the Swedish national team and return to Tottenham for treatment, Sweden Football confirms.

The Tottenham midfielder has suffered a minor injury and will be unable to take part in their clash with Estonia in the Nations League.

The 18-year-old did not feature in Sweden’s first game of the international break as they drew 2-2 with Slovakia.

His club teammate Dejan Kulusevski starred in the draw against Slovakia as he created two big chances, completed three successful take-ons, had seven shots and 15 touches in the box.

Speaking after Tottenham’s win over Qarabag, Postecoglou promised Bergvall: “Just an adjustment we needed to make, nothing on Lucas. He’ll get plenty of opportunities.”

Those opportunities were likely to come over the next few weeks with key Carabao Cup and Europa League matches to play, so Postecoglou will be hoping the issue is nothing serious.

Archie Gray must be given midfield minutes instead

Now is the chance for Postecoglou to hand Archie Gray the game time he deserves in his natural position of central midfield.

Since his arrival from Leeds over the summer, the teenager has played in several different roles including centre-back, left-back, right-back and midfield.

Bergvall’s potential absence could open the door to Gray finally getting the chance to feature in the role where he plays best.

The Lilywhites take on AZ Alkmaar and Man City which could present the former Leeds man with plenty of chances to play.
