Son Heung-min has told Goal that he believes Liverpool will lose points in the race for the Premier League title and has not ruled Tottenham Hotspur out of the running for the trophy.
The 27-year-old is preparing to play for Tottenham as they take on Bayern Munich in the group stages of the Champions League at home, and was speaking ahead of crucial European clash which could determine the winner of Group B.
Son, who is just five appearances away from clocking up 200 outings for the north Londoners, has been in decent form so far this season – scoring two goals and laying on three assists in seven outings.
But with Spurs 10 points behind Liverpool in fifth place, it looks as though his side are already out of the running for the title at this early stage. However, South Korea captain Son disagrees, claiming Spurs are still in it and Liverpool will lose points.
“Liverpool will certainly lose points. I would not say that they play at a different level,” Son said. “I definitely do not want to give up. There are also 10 points to catch up. Especially if you look at how many games are left to play. Everything can happen.”

TBR’s view – Can Tottenham really catch Liverpool?
Spurs have only looked convincing in one match this season. The win over Crystal Palace saw Son score his two goals, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side won 4-0. But in the other seven games, Spurs have looked dodgy.
A loss to Colchester, league defeats to Newcastle and Leicester and the failure to hold on to a 2-0 lead against Olympiakos are examples. Even the 2-2 draw with Manchester City saw Spurs struggle, with their backs completely against the wall.
So, can Spurs catch Liverpool? They certainly have to become a lot more consistent. They have already lost more games than the Reds did last term.
