Kieran Trippier’s excellent form for Atletico Madrid since joining the Spanish side from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer has seen him return to the England fold once again – and a Spurs star has reacted on Instagram.
Trippier, 29, struggled at Tottenham last season and Mauricio Pochettino decided to sell the former Manchester City and Burnley star. But with Serge Aurier playing poorly, the sale of Trippier is a source of frustration for Spurs fans.
Since his move to Spain, Trippier has clocked up seven appearances for Atletico – laying on two assists for the La Liga side, keeping four clean sheets and even laying on an assist in a 2-2 draw against Juventus in the Champions League.
Trippier, who has 17 England caps to his name and starred for the Three Lions in the 2018 World Cup, expressed his pride on Instagram after getting the call-up to Gareth Southgate’s side.
Trippier is set to do battle with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold for a place in England’s side, as the nation go up against Bulgaria and Czech Republic in European qualifcation ahead of next summer’s European Championships.
Tottenham academy product Walker-Peters reacted to Trippier’s post on Instagram, with an honest one-word verdict of “deserved” as Trippier continues to shine for Diego Simeone’s side.
