Tottenham star Harry Kane says Liverpool have a truly 'great' player in their ranks
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been praised by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who says the Reds ace is a “great leader”.
Henderson joined Liverpool in 2011 from Sunderland and, even though he came under some criticism in his early days, he’s now etched his name in Anfield folklore.
The 30-year-old is closing in on 400 competitive appearances for the Reds, and has captained the club to the Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Kane spoke with Gary Neville on The Overlap about a number of topics including England’s chances at Euro 2020, and the Three Lions captain expressed his admiration for Henderson.
When asked by Neville whether he was one of the most vocal in the dressing room, Kane replied: “Henderson is a great leader, Hendo, I love Hendo.
“What he expects from players on the training field, but he has a great relationship with everyone off the training field.”
Kane also praised Eric Dier and Harry Maguire, saying: “Eric Dier gets on with everyone, not afraid to talk on the pitch. Harry Maguire is the skipper at United and you can see why.”
Henderson is one of those players that, when he retires, he’ll leave a big hole in the Liverpool midfield, and supporters will be reminiscing and recalling how lucky they were to have him.
While he’s won plenty at club level, it’s a different matter for England, but with the Three Lions having reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and boasting one of their strongest squads in years, could international glory beckon for him and his compatriots in the next 18 months?
