Tottenham’s Dele Alli posted a message on social media on Tuesday night, amid a difficult spell for him on the pitch.

The £100,000-a-week star (Spotrac) has completely fallen out of favour with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho this season and made just six appearances across all competitions, with his most recent Premier League minutes coming at the start of October against Manchester United.

He has slipped right down the pecking order at the North London club and lost his spot in the England national team.

The attacking midfielder, aged 24, has proven he’s a top-class talent that can be a real hit on the elite stage and he’s reached his first big obstacle in the senior game.

According to the Telegraph earlier this month, Alli could potentially be lined up to leave Spurs in January on loan and there is interest from French side Monaco.

It seems though like Alli is determined to turn things around with his latest post:

“Make improvements, not excuses,” Alli wrote on his official Instagram account.

TBR’s View:

Alli certainly hasn’t made the most of the brief opportunities thrown his way this season, but there is so much pressure for him to deliver with any minutes on the pitch and the spotlight is now shining bright his way.

He’s going to have to put a lot of hard work in if he’s going to change the mind of his manager Mourinho, but teammate Tanguy Ndombele has proven in recent months that it’s not an impossible task with the way he’s risen to a key player after previously being out in the cold.

It’s obvious that creative playmaker Alli has the talent and he’s got to show the kind of work-rate, energy and quality that Mourinho is demanding from his squad.
