Calum Chambers will have delighted Arsenal supporters as he posted an update on Instagram that suggested he is close to overcoming a long-term knee injury and plenty of his teammates responded, as did Tottenham star Ryan Sessegnon.
Chambers, 25, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during December’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea – which saw him leave the field of play after just 23 minutes. Expected to be out for upto nine months, Chambers is already showing signs of progress.
Less than six months after the injury, it appears Chambers is getting close to full fitness which will be a huge boost for Mikel Arteta – especially given the inconsistent form of the likes of David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis.
Chambers posted the update on Instagram on Tuesday evening as Arsenal players returned to their London Colney training base ahead of Project Restart, which is expected to see the Premier League return in the middle of June.
Chambers, who cost Arsenal in the region of £16million (BBC) back in 2014 from Southampton, has since mamaged 101 appearances for the Gunners – while also going on loan to Middlesbrough and Fulham.
An England international, Chambers’ return to action will encourage Arteta. Tottenham star Sessegnon responded, who played alongside Chambers at Fulham, as did Danny Welbeck and a number of Arsenal teammates.
