Tottenham should surely consider moving for Jasper Cillessen
Tottenham Hotspur should be thinking about making a transfer offer for the man who starred against them in the Champions League on Tuesday, Jasper Cillessen.
The Dutchman was handed a start by Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde as number one Marc-Andre ter Stegen was afforded a rest for the already-qualified Catalans.

And the ex-Ajax stopper used the opportunity to impress, making a number of great saves from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura.
He came in for high praise on social media after the game, and what is clear is that Cillessen is unfortunate to be playing second fiddle to someone else. Clearly, he has the ability to be a number one elsewhere.
And maybe Tottenham need to make themselves a part of that conversation.
A definite upgrade on Vorm, maybe even Lloris?
Cillessen’s stunning performance was evidence enough that if signed, he would be a huge upgrade on Michel Vorm who has struggled to make the most of his opportunities this term.

Cillessen’s compatriot has made four appearances this term, with two coming in the Premier League and two in the Champions League.
He has not covered himself in much glory – arguably, he’s now dropped behind Paulo Gazzaniga in the goalkeeping pecking order.
Also, Hugo Lloris hasn’t had his best campaign in 2018/19, so it can be argued that Cillessen could even come in to replace the World Cup winner as the number one.

He has been unfortunate enough to have made no appearances for Barcelona domestically this term, but he has impressed for the Netherlands in the Nations League.
For how much longer Cillessen, dubbed ‘the world’s best back-up goalkeeper‘, can play second fiddle to ter Stegen remains to be seen, but Tottenham should at least force him to have to make a choice.
