Tottenham should sign Diego Costa in January, he'd be perfect for Jose Mourinho
Tottenham could give Jose Mourinho the perfect new year present by signing Diego Costa, with the 32-year-old set to be available after Christmas.
The Daily Mail reports that Costa is on his way out of Atletico Madrid, with the striker opting not to sign a new deal. That decision will, of course, put a number of clubs on red alert.

But for Spurs, who are already being labelled with the typical comments that get chucked at a Jose Mourinho team, Costa could prove the perfect addition and almost add to those labels, but in a positive way.
They don’t come any nastier, tougher, or hard-working than Costa when you think of strikers in world football. And while the goals might have dried up somewhat in recent seasons, the Spanish star remains a player Mourinho would love to have, you’d imagine.
Battering ram
Spurs signed Carlos Vinicius in the summer to provide cover for Harry Kane. However, he’s yet to play many minutes in the Premier League, suggesting Mourinho doesn’t quite have full confidence in his man.

In Costa, however, he’d be getting a player he knows all about and loves. Indeed Mourinho has previously labelled Costa ‘brilliant’, telling the Belfast Telegraph back in 2015:
“The way he plays, the way he gives his body to the cause – because his body is always very punished – is brilliant. The team need that.”
With Harry Kane dropping into a deeper role in most games, having someone like Costa on the field to occupy defenders could be a difference maker for Spurs.
The last few weeks have shown Tottenham need a bit more in their squad, and Diego Costa could well be the man to push them over the line to success this season.
