Tottenham were linked with a surprise move for Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo in January, but they should consider returning for him in the summer.
The 25-year-old moved to the Etihad Stadium in the summer from Juventus and has had a difficult first season so far adjusting to life in the Premier League.
He ended up staying with Manchester City during the January window, but has struggled to cement a regular spot in the XI and been behind teammate Kyle Walker in the pecking order.
El Desmarque reported in January that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho had been in contact with the right-back and was interested in him.
The Sun now reports that Manchester City are ready to cut their losses on Cancelo in the summer and allow him to leave.
It is explained that Inter Milan and Bayern Munich are both keen on him, but he is valued at around £50million.
Spurs should keep a close eye on Cancelo during the second half of the season and plot a raid for the summer.
The Portugal international has had some needless criticism fired towards him this campaign, considering he’s only had six years in English football and it can take players time to adapt.
He’s a speed machine that has so much potential to be a success in the Premier League and to write him off so quickly is bizarre.
Spurs do have Serge Aurier as an improving option at full-back, but they have yet to really replace Kieran Trippier and Cancelo is exactly the type of target they need for the summer.
