Tottenham need to show some ambition this summer after back-to-back transfer windows without any signings and build on their runners-up finish in the Champions League last season.
Spurs could do with more firepower in attack and especially some natural width to give them an extra dimension.
The North London club were linked with Marseille winger Florian Thauvin back in the 2018 summer window, with RMC Sport reporting that they were keen on trying to sign him and manager Mauricio Pochettino was an admirer.
Sky Sports are now reporting that Thauvin is one of four players that Marseille may need to sell this summer to comply with financial fair play rules.
It is understood the Ligue 1 side are prepared to sell him and that he’s valued up to £50million, with Arsenal credited with interest in him.
Spurs should consider placing him back on their radar and looking to land their former target this summer.
Thauvin has turned into a top player since a brief disappointing spell in England with Newcastle and would be a different animal if he returned to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is a left-footed wide man that usually plays on the right flank to cut in and is a major goal threat.
He scored 18 times and supplied nine assists in just 37 games across all competitions last season for Marseille.
The Frenchman was directly involved in 43 goals during the 2017/18 campaign too and would add some more firepower to Pochettino’s side.
It would cost a sizeable fee to bring him to North London, but he’s hitting the peak of his career and may be an exciting target to consider.
