Harry Kane’s injury absence since January has proven that Tottenham are extremely light at striker, something that many supporters have known for sometime now.
They have versatile attackers that have tried to fill the role, but the only other out-an-out centre-forward is inexperienced Troy Parrott and it’s a big gap in Jose Mourinho’s squad.
Spurs can’t afford to go into next season with the same problem and surely they need to look at bringing in a proven striker to challenge with Kane.
According to Spanish publication Defensa Central in January, Mourinho targeted a move for Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic and even made a phonecall to his former club about him.
The report explained that Spanish giants Madrid weren’t willing to offload the 22-year-old despite a difficult first half of the season at the Bernabeu.
It’s not gone much better for Jovic since the close of the window and he’s got just two goals plus two assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this campaign for Madrid.
But Spurs should not be put off by that and seriously reconsider him in the summer.

Spanish outlet AS now reports that interest is forming in Jovic ahead of the summer transfer window due to his struggles in Madrid.
It is claimed that Napoli are one of several teams eyeing the Serbia international, who has had very little contact with his manager Zinedine Zidane.
Jovic’s difficult year in Spain shouldn’t overshadowed by the fact he was sensational in the previous season at Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and anyone can get struggle at arguably the world’s biggest club in Madrid.
He scored 27 goals in 48 games across all competitions last season for Frankfurt and showed he’s a frontman that can score with both feet, plus he’s a real danger in the air.
The young striker is exactly the type of signing that could compete with Kane and Spurs should be monitoring his situation closely.
