Tottenham should prioritize Grealish over Soler swoop during summer transfer window

Tottenham have their sights on both Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Valencia’s Carlos Soler as they gear up for a summer transfer spree, according to the Daily Mail.

They report that because Mauricio Pochettino looks set to remain at the club beyond the end of the season, a major transfer spree is planned to convince the Argentine of the club’s ambition.

Current Spurs midfielders Christian Eriksen and Victor Wanyama are both named as midfielders who could leave in the forthcoming window, which explains the interest in engine room duo Grealish and Soler.

This may be a cynical mindset but Tottenham’s lack of recent investment makes it difficult to believe that they are suddenly going to throw away their frugality in the next window.

It’s more likely that Spurs are trying to soften the blow of Eriksen edging closer to the exit door by putting out a list of targets to try and generate some excitement.

Can they really afford Grealish and Soler? It remains to be seen. And if it comes down to a fight between the Spaniard and the Championship star in the affections of Pochettino, Grealish should win every time.

He has the ability to be a very special player and James Maddison has shown this season that a young English talent from the second tier can take to life in the Premier League and make an impression quickly.
