Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a number of players this summer, with Ben White the latest to emerge as a potential Jose Mourinho target this week.

The Sun claims that Spurs are among a number of clubs to have enquired about White this summer. Along with Leeds and Liverpool, the Brighton defender is capturing quite the audience following his spell at Elland Road last year.

But with the Seagulls reportedly set to ask for around £50m for their young defensive star, it may well be that Jose Mourinho has to eye up another defensive target.

And with reports emerging from Sky Sports that West Ham could be open to selling Issa Diop for around £45m, we think this could be quite the move for Spurs and Mourinho to make.

Mourinho loves Diop, has previously praised him

Diop is a massive talent and has been simply brilliant at times for West Ham over the last few seasons. Strong, quick, aggressive, and a good reader of the game, the 23-year-old is on the right path already.

A move then, to a manager who already admires him, could be a brilliant career shift.

The Spurs boss has previously been impressed with Diop, once describing him as a ‘monster’ following an impressive performance against Mourinho’s Manchester United.

Those sorts of impressions often live long in the memory and Mourinho will not have forgotten what he saw from the Frenchman that day.

So, while Ben White is obviously a huge talent and a man in-demand, Spurs could well undercut the opposition by moving for Diop while they scrap it out for the former Leeds loanee.
