Tottenham should make Leicester defender Ricardo Pereira a long-term target

Tottenham’s right-back area has been somewhat of a problem for manager Mauricio Pochettino this season and he needs to find a long-term fix.

Kieran Trippier has seen his levels dip this campaign and hasn’t been unable to recreate his World Cup form, while Serge Aurier is a rash defender that is majorly inconsistent and youngster Kyle Walker-Peters is still learning his game.

Spurs need to find a solution for the full-back area and drawing up plans to find a summer target would be smart, with the January window rapidly drawing to a close.

One man that should crop up on the club’s radar is Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira, who is enjoying a great first season in English football at the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old is resilient defensively and played well in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Wednesday night, while he’s had Champions League experience with Porto too.

He’s scored two goals and supplied four assists so far this season for the Foxes, which has helped make him one of the division’s outstanding full-backs.

Mauricio Pochettino needs a full-back that is strong in all areas of the park and Pereira ticks all the boxes.

Periera only moved to the Premier League in the summer, but already looks a natural in England and Spurs should try prize him away at the end of next season.
