Tottenham should hijack Manchester United's bid for 2017 target Douglas Costa
Manchester United were lining up a bid for Juventus winger Douglas Costa just before sacking Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese was reportedly informed about the plot to sign the Brazilian a matter of hours before he was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford, and it remains to be seen how his departure impacts the bid.
But if there are murmurings that Costa could be on his way out of Juventus, then Tottenham should muscle themselves to the front of the queue.
According to the Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino lined up a £30m bid for Costa back in April 2017, back when he was a Bayern Munich player, before he elected to go to Italy.

Spurs’ attack has carried the side well and battled through post World Cup tiredness, but it needs another dimension and Costa could be that man.
Also, with growing rumours that Pochettino could be tempted to move to United, it would be a big step if Daniel Levy could provide his manager with a target who is also of interest at Old Trafford.
It would be a timely reminder of Tottenham’s continued ambition, as well as sparking their attack into life with a fresh injection of pace.
