Amid heavy interest from Arsenal, Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request.
Inter Milan director Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia (via BBC Sport) that Perisic wants to leave.
Arsenal are keen on the Croatia international and are keen to sign him on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
BBC Sport claims that Inter Milan are ready to sanction his sale for between £35m and £40m.
This should be a deal that alerts Tottenham Hotspur, who desperately need reinforcements up front.
After crashing out of two cup competitions in the past week, Spurs’ season is in danger of derailing unless they turn things around.
With Son Heung-Min coming back, Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options will improve.
But he will still be without Dele Alli, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane for the next month, meaning another attacking signing could be useful.
Perisic is the perfect target, given his track record of success in Germany and Italy during his career.
This season, the 29-year-old has scored three and assisted two goals for Inter Milan. Last term, he scored 11 and assisted nine with 11 goals and eight assists the season before.
Perisic is consistently performing at a high level and his ability to play on either wing or as a number 10 would really bolster Spurs’ options.
With bitter rivals Arsenal keen to get this over the line, surely Tottenham should enter the race for Perisic on a loan-to-buy agreement.
