Tottenham really need some reinforcements in midfield during the summer and manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to be back to add some players.
After signings nobody in the last two windows, Spurs need a mini reshuffle if they are to continue competing at the top level against the best teams.
They lost midfielder Mousa Demble in January to China and he’s left a sizeable gap in the team that needs filling.
Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama are the main options in the centre of the park, but they do look a light light in that department.
Spurs should consider targeting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has captained Southampton this season under Ralph Hasenhuttl and been extremely impressive.
Hojbjerg, who earns £50,000-a-week (Spotrac), is one of the best players at St Mary’s and has proven his quality in the top flight of England.
The 23-year-old is a central midfielder that can provide a brilliant threat going forward with his shooting and range of passing, while he’s defensively switched on too.
He was recently a real standout in a defeat to Liverpool and looks to have the quality on the ball to make the step up to a top-six club in England.
The Denmark international was previously on the books at Bayern Munich and linking him up with Christian Eriksen could be a masterstroke.
Hojbjerg could definitely help fill the void in the Spurs midfield with his overall strength and the club should make an approach in the summer.
